This beautiful car was purchased in 1998 with documentation authenticating it as an A-990 Lightweight Super Stock. However, as of late, I have come to find out through thorough examination by two experts in the field that it is not. Now that I have found this out I'm selling the car at a reduced price. This is a car someone can really go out and enjoy, either racing, taking to car shows or driving on the street. Car was featured on Velocity Channel's segment on Super Stock Lightweights (American Icon: The Muscle Cars - GTO and Hemi). This 65' Belvedere is truly museum quality. No expense was spared on this car. The A990 Race Hemi, the A833 aluminum-cased 4-speed Race Hemi transmission and many other parts are correct per 1965 A-990. The car is licensed and registered and can be street driven. One meticulous owner for the past 16 years and every single minute inside a heated and air conditioned building. This car was completely restored in 1998 and has been minimally driven (less than 200 miles since restoration - never raced). The exciting aspect of the car is it is totally street drivable. This original 426 cubic inch Race Hemi has the correct late '64 date code block and is equipped with original factory Super Stock K-aluminum heads, magnesium cross ram intake manifold with two correct Holley 770 cfm carburetors topped with velocity stacks that seal the hood scoop. The only upgrades to the Race Hemi was when the engine was freshened up with a Crane Solid Roller Cam and Lifters, Norris Stainless Steel Roller Rocker Arms and Venolia Forged Aluminum Pistons. The headers are the original ultra-rare factory A-990 tubular units with factory cut-outs that run through 3" mandrel bend exhaust system with dual Flowmaster mufflers. Although rated from the factory at 425 horsepower, the sanctioning bodies of the time rated the race Hemi's at 540-560 horsepower and is now close or exceeding 600hp thanks to modern roller cam technology. This motor was rated from the factory for a 7, 000 RPM redline. The engine and engine compartment are in brand new condition. Paint color is Ruby Red, of which only a few A-990's were painted and which was really the epitome of racing color back in the day. The paint is of excellent quality and condition and has literally only seen hours of sunlight since it was applied. All body, fenders, hood with scoop and all panels are in excellent condition and have never sustained any damage. This vehicle is fitted with factory lightweight doors, hood and scoop (purchased by the previous owner). The door hinges are original aluminum factory Super Stock. The front bumper and brackets, rear bumper, handles, grille and other bright trim is in pristine, like new condition. The windshield, the Super Stock lightweight Corning side glass and rear glass are in as new condition. The wheels are authentic period correct 1965 magnesium Americans with 4 1/2" by 15" on the front and match race 6" x 15' on the rear. The rear tires are period correct 10.00 x15" M/T Rader pie crust slicks. The front tires are 7.75 x 15" BF Goodrich. All are in excellent condition. The interior is the factory tan vinyl. Correct Hurst shifter and seat restraints are installed. The underside of the vehicle, it's chassis and suspension is highly detailed and in like new condition. The vehicle is fitted with Super Stock torsion bar suspension and factory Super Stock rear leaf springs that give a one inch shorter wheelbase as well as two extra leafs on the right spring to improve traction. The trunk area and seals are in excellent condition. The battery is installed at the right rear of the trunk area again to help improve traction. Receipts/Documentations included.
